Organize Pretty

Good Monday!  Sorry for the missed TGIF post.  I've been rushing to work, it seems, like every morning and coming home late. I have to learn to juggle and organize a bit.  Speaking of organizing, Sara from A Dose of Pretty had a really helpful post on staying organized for your home/business/blog.  (If you didn't know already, she's the talented lady who gave this place a little make-over earlier this year). For me, having a clean desk really helps.  And of course, me being me, I want things organized pretty.  That'll motivate me to stay focused at my desk, right?! So, onto my long wish list are these pretties.

  • This stapler was from Anthropologie but it appears to be sold out (similar here)
  • This tray from Jayson Home is a classic.  I can see an envelope opener or a really nice writing pen on this tray;
  • This pinboard is from Restoration Hardware Baby and Child.  The price is a bit too much but you can see how this is a perfect DIY project in waiting (gold spray please!); and
  • And of course, we can all use a catch all bowl.  This one's a bit bigger than the small Anthro bowls (so wildly popular, right?!).  I have so many paper clips that pile up.  This bowl will provide a good catch all place.
Wish me luck with staying organized!!

Let's Be Bad Ass

My every day look is pretty corporate, biz casual, and preppy. Call me crazy (or "cray cray" as kids say these days), I fantasize about showing up to work looking bad ass.  And of course, my idea of "bad ass" is pretty tame to most. In any event, it looks something like this.

Do you like?  (I also think this is like a super model's daily look.  Those lucky biatches! :)

West Elm - Sold Out (Not a good thing...)

West Elm to me is like J.Crew  when it comes to home decorating.  I can pretty much find whatever I want/need for my home at West Elm.  And they keep coming out with amazing and beautiful designs.  Like the console below, which is now SOLD OUT.  OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It's been on my wish list for so long... I'm so sad. I had such a vision as to how I would decorate around it.  Here's what I had in mind.

1.  Pelican Print Silk Top (I want wall paper in this pattern!!)
2.  Nate Berkus Marble Print Trays (for Target) (I purchased the   busier pattern and let me tell you, this is a beauty for all of 25 bucks!)
3.  Retroline Trio Brass Lighting (another fantasy item)
4.  Sculpted Geo Console - sold out (NO!!!!!!!!)

There are rarely times when I grieve over a sold out piece of furniture.  This is one of those times.  Maybe it'll show up again.  Crossing my fingers! Do you have any piece of furniture or something else you've been eyeing obsessing over lately?

I hope for ________

I came across this typography via Creative.Org's Pinterest page.
I love that this leaves you with so many creative answers.  'I Hope for ______'.  What would you fill in the blank with? Today, I hope for a clear head.  I feel like my head's been a little too cluttered with thoughts worries about work, life, health, money, etc.  All the stuff you think about as well. Sometimes this kinda stuff gets me emotionally immobilized.  I don't sleep well; I get cranky; I commit horrible emotional eating (or not eating), etc. So, what do I do?  I remind myself exactly the same things: I HAVE work, I AM healthy, I AM alive, I HAVE money (um, never enough, but when's it ever enough? right? It's all subjective and relative :)).

Sorry for the cheesy philosophical post but I just had to spill the clutter out onto my little space here.  Thanks for hearing me out!

TGIF - Whatcha Up To?

TGIF!!!  I hate to say it but I'm TIRED. Exhausted. So, here's my sigh of relief that the weekend is almost here.

This weekend, I've got some play and work combo happening again. I'll be meeting up with my nephew, Lukie at Smith Memorial Playground, a ginormous playground in Philly.  That's going to be super fun.  I can't get enough of this soon-to-be 4 year old munchkin.

I also have a ton of work to catch up. That might be my Sunday.  At least, I'll be in my comfy outfit while working, right?! And a bottle of whiskey on the side.  (JUST kidding. )

How about you?  Anything fun and fab?  Whatever you do, do include checking out my TGIF links!

Fall Into Winter

It's been getting chillier every morning, reminding me once again that fall is actually here.  I have to say, I do love fall fashion. I recently acquired this sweater (it was a gift from the hubs) and the Phillip Lim's mini pashli for Target below.  The Weitzman knee-high boots were last year's big splurge investment (I'm really good at justifying my splurges). With a pair of dark skinnies or leggings, I will have one simple yet sophisticated look.  This outfit is all I need to get me through the fall and into winter. How about you?  Do you have an outfit like that? If not, I say start splurging investing!

Celebration Into Fall

Good Monday!  (Is there such a thing?! Alright, out with the negative 'tude!).  I'm in a rush mode to work again.  But a quick  show n' tell of my belated birthday weekend.

Yes, it was a good one.  My last one before I hit the big Four-O.
Yikes!!!!

Have a great week~~

TGIF - Whatcha Up To?

TGIF!!! It's been a long long week and you can tell by looking at the mountainous pile of dirty dishes in my sink.  Yes, that's been happening a lot lately...  But I am happy to report that I'll finally be getting some down time this weekend.

This Saturday, I have my belated birthday celebration dinner with the hubs at Talula's Garden, which I've been wanting to go for some time.  Sunday will be another fun day with my mom, sis-in-law and nephew, Lukie, visiting me.

What are your plans for the weekend?  I hope it includes checking out my Friday thoughts, finds, musings, etc. Enjoy!

Yup - 39

Here's an awkward selfie of me the day I got my hair chopped.  That was last Saturday.  Let's just say there was a lot of hair on the floor.  And yeah, the bangs kept falling all over my face but I've got them under control now, I think.

So, I get some sort of a make-over around my birthday every year.  And this haircut was my birthday make-over this year.  A couple of years ago, it was hitting the MAC store and buying real make-up for the first time.  Yeah, I'm a late bloomer.  And today, this late bloomer turns 39.  Yup, you heard it right. 39.  I can't believe I just typed that number. (SCREAM!!!) 39 and in a place where I never thought I'd be.  Life sure keeps things interesting with surprises here and there~~

Mod or Art Deco?

Would you describe this as mod or art deco?  I don't know, but to my surprise, I'm loving the whole combination I mished meshed together out of nowhere. (What's happening to me, aka the minimalist?!!)

Leopard Anyone?

Alright, it's Monday and I'm back~  Last week was so awfully busy  at work, I tell ya.  But let's hope I can muti-task a bit better this week and get this bloggy blog going again.

Is it me or is the leopard trend seriously at its full blown height this year?  It's time to consider our options.  Here are my picks.  I just can't have'em all!

Stuff of Dreams

I'm back!  The MIA thing was so not intentional this time around.     My real job kept me quite busy the moment I got back from seeing my friend, Nancy in NJ on Sunday.

I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend.  I had a really fun time hanging out with Nancy.  Our first thing on the agenda was the Brooklyn Flea.  To my surprise it was a lot smaller than I thought.  And to my surprise, again, items were pricier than I thought. But the food was yummy. I had a mango lassi and Nancy had a shrimp roll, which I took a bite of. Both excellent stuff. I just didn't have much of an appetite as the day was really hot.

We then ventured into Soho and went into just about every shop on the streets. Just for fun and because we had time to kill.  We made sure to hit the two places I LOVE - Dwell Studio and Room and Board. On Sunday, Nancy introduced me to the Design Within Reach outlet in Secaucus. I couldn't believe the reduction in prices at the outlet, which were all due to minor damages or just because they were returned items.  They are what I call the 'stuff of dreams'. Here are some photos from the weekend.

This needs to be my living room... at Dwell Studio

What I would do for this Eames chair... at Room and Board

The prices on these Hans J. Wegner chairs at the Design Within Reach Outlet were amazing. BUT I am really trying to put myself on a spending freeze, so I had to let it go... (tears!!)

This buffet/console at the Design Within Reach outlet was a thing of a beauty.  My friend Nancy purchased this for her dining room area. She has waited a long time to carefully upgrade some of  her old furniture and boy, is she making the right choices!
If you noticed in the Room and Board photo, I did have a Crocs bag on me.  Nancy got me a pair of these Crocs wedges that are super comfy. And believe it, they actually look really good on ANYBODY.  You look instantly taller too (and I can always use that at my height of 5'3").
All in all, the weekend was awesome but now, I am having a really hard time coping with the fact that the summer is over...so unlike me too since I love fall.  How should I deal with this seasonal blues?  I welcome all suggestions!!
